Institute of the Humanities
in Helping Professions

The Institute of Humanities in Helping Professions provides the teaching of humanities subjects that are part of the accredited study programs at all levels of studies – from bachelor’s degree to doctoral degree.

About the Institute

The Institute of Humanities in Helping Professions (IHHP) is one of the six institutes of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences that participate in teaching students of all accredited study programs and levels, i.e., from bachelor's to doctoral degrees. IHHP provides general humanities foundations, develops the humanities and social science outlooks, contributes to a comprehensive view of the issues of the studied field, and thus is an indispensable part of the study. The Institute provides teaching in applied languages (English, German, Spanish, and Latin), philosophy, ethics, law, management, economics, and psychology, i.e., health and social areas.

In addition to teaching activities, IHHP provides translations into English and German, primarily for the faculty-published journals "Kontakt" and "Journal of Nursing, Social Studies, Public Health and Rehabilitation". The applied languages section also includes paid language courses. These are so-called "remedial courses" offered primarily to students who have failed the English and German entrance language tests. The students are required to complete a two/three-semester professional foreign language course during their studies.

Institute members participate in faculty projects, scientific research, and foreign activities. Currently, a member of the institute is the leading project researcher registered in the CEP (TAČR). Several Institute members belong to project teams registered in CEP (AZV and TAČR projects) with completion dates in 2023 and 2024 in psychology, law, management, and economics.
