The members of the Institute are divided into three sections: Nursing, Midwifery and Emergency care. A number of employees of the Institute are active in national and international professional organizations and in scientific or professional boards. The Institute uses the possibilities of the Erasmus+ programme as well as other financial resources, e. g. grants or development programmes as part of the exchange mobilities for teachers and students. The experience gained from these foreign stays helps to enrich the lessons. The teachers and the students of the doctoral programme attend international conferences. There is also an intensive cooperation on international projects aimed at improving the quality of teaching and education of foreign students (Joint-degree study programme).
The Institute also provides practical training both in the courses it guarantees and in other study programmes that are healthcare oriented. A large part of the practical training takes place in the main accredited clinical workplace, i. e. at the České Budějovice Hospital (Nemocnice České Budějovice, a. s. ), at all levels of care. The practical training in primary care in the Nursing and Midwifery study programmes takes place in the general practitioners and gynaecologists offices, home care agencies and hospice facilities. Students of the study course “Medical rescue worker” have practical training at the inpatient healthcare facilities, at standard wards and specialized units and urgent admissions, at the Rescue Service and within the trainings of the Integrated Rescue Service.
