Erasmus+ KA203 Strategic Partnerships for higher education 2019-1-TR01-KA203-076879: Better & Effective Nursing Education For Improving Transcultural nursing Skills - BENEFITS (2019 – 2022)
(principal investigator for FHSS: prof. PhDr. Valérie Tóthová, Ph.D.)
Background
Transcultural nursing, an important aspect of healthcare, has become an essential component in healthcare and a necessity for today's nurses, due to the multicultural phenomena on occurring in the world population. Cultural diversity of the population is increasing, there are also national concerns in relation to health disparities. Indeed, an important component of eliminating health disparities among different segments of the population is the incorporation of a deeper understanding of the multicultural context in which care is delivered. Cultural values and beliefs are essential elements in fulfilling patients’ needs with an efficient and effective holistic approach. Many nursing programs across the globe do not offer courses on the topic transcultural nursing. There were gaps and difficulties regarding specific skills on the topic of transcultural nursing. To develop better knowledge as well as specific and adapted programs that help nurses identify better ways of working with patients providing a respectful and culture-sensitive care, we have planned a comprehensive alliance with an international perspective of institutions which are actively working on the topic of Transcultural Care.
Objectives
The BENEFITS project was conducted transnationally to fill an existing gap. This project focused on nursing academic professionals and students pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing who are actively engaged in transcultural nursing care.
All project partners benefited from this project, but our main goal was to share this knowledge on a global basis by adding it to existing knowledge by showing a concrete example of how the transcultural care approach can be embedded in the nursing curriculum. A core curriculum and supporting publications on this innovative approach have been created to raise awareness, support learning and ultimately have a positive impact on evolving healthcare practice in each country. BENEFITS project ultimate goal was to provide high quality healthcare and to improve the healthcare experience of different cultures in healthcare.
Implementation
In this strategic partnership, partners from five EU countries and Turkey came together to form a new curriculum about transcultural nursing. Our main activity was to transfer the innovational results to Transcultural Nursing Education and develop a new curriculum. Within the scope of the BENEFITS project, 6 transnational project meetings, an intensive training program (Learning Teaching Training Activity), a multiplier event were held and many dissemination activities were participated. All processes were evaluated within the framework of quality management.
Although the BENFITS project has only three project outputs approved by the Turkish National Agency, much more successful project outputs were achieved with the sub-outputs created.
Erasmus+ KA 2: Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices 2020-1-RS01-KA226-HE-094562: Development of digital approach for occupational health and safety systems in higher education courses – DOHASS (2021 – 2023)
(principal investigator for FHSS: prof.Dr.rer.nat. Friedo Zölzer, DSc.)
Background
The DOHASS project was initiated in response to the lack of open access education courses in the field of occupational health and safety (OHS) at the university level. Project aimed to upgrade higher education courses to meet the challenges of the current time when traditional teaching methods are being replaced by remote and digitalized learning methods. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected the higher education system, highlighting the need to promote innovative practices in teaching and learning methods to improve the system's quality. The lack of high-quality teaching materials for bachelor's and master's degree OHS students, which contain the elements of curricula from different universities, was another need that this project aimed to address. The project introduced innovative approaches to the study of OHS by improving and modernizing education materials for various courses related to OHS. The DOHASS transnational implementation brought harmonization of the teaching approach at partner higher education institutions (HEIs) and supported strengthening of internal institutional capacities by sharing knowledge among partners. The project provides high-quality, digital content and multilingual education material.
Objectives
The main objective of the DOHASS project was to modernize higher education courses in the field of occupational health and safety (OHS). The project aimed to introduce innovative approaches to the study of OHS by updating conventional courses, lectures and various types of exercises. The project was expected to achieve the following goals: 1. Develop high-quality multidisciplinary education materials in two languages by each partner higher education institution (HEI) (native and English). 2. Prepare video materials to help students better understand OHS in different workplace environments and working conditions. 3. Develop an online education platform. 4. Create openly accessible education resources available in different languages. 5. Develop multidisciplinary teams from partner universities to create innovative methods and tools for remote teaching and learning of OHS higher education courses. 6. Harmonize the teaching approach in partner universities and support the strengthening of organizational and internal institutional capacities, sharing knowledge among partners, and promoting innovative OHS education. 7. Foster the capacities of international multidisciplinary teams for future proposals by strengthening their networks.
Implementation
The DOHASS project implemented several activities to achieve its objectives. The project was divided into a preparatory phase (O1 and O2) and two main activities: development of teaching materials (O3) and preparation of video materials (O4). During the first researcher meeting topics from existing participating HEIs courses were selected for modernization and digitalization. The teaching materials for each lecture and exercise were prepared by university professors and were required to contain integral texts and/or audio ppt and/or photographic material, and/or video. The preparation of video materials was based on the results of the preparatory phase. The material for field, laboratory, and computational exercises consisted of detailed work instructions and/or photographic material and/or video material, and/or audio ppt. Each university prepared materials in English and their national language. In addition to these main activities, the project also conducted dissemination and communication within different events and implemented quality control activities in order to meet Project objectives in proposed way.
Erasmus+ KA210-ADU - Small-scale partnerships in adult education KA210-ADU-AA49DC84: An automated external defibrillator (AED) help save the lives (2023 – 2024)
(principal investigator for FHSS: Mgr. František Dolák, Ph.D., MBA)
Tartu Health Care College in Estonia and University of South Bohemia in Czech joined efforts to make the life saving machine AED (an automatic external defibrillator) better known and more used. In general about 60% of European citizens don't know what it is or are afraid to use it. The partners of this project like to get a better overview of the real situation in Czech and Estonia, share experiences, learn from each other and teach people about AED usage. Everyone can save a life!
Partners have made the survey of situation (make online questionnaires and ask people in public places) what local citizens know about AED. There was a study trip to Estonia and Czech to learn from both partners' best practices. Partners want to share their knowledge with local citizens through practical workshops where every participant can test the AED usage. For spreading the information Estonian partners have prepared educational videos to share the knowledge with a wider audience.
After the project has ended, the partners will have detailed knowledge and specified methods to teach the usage of the AED to different focus groups. Creating new partnerships for the future is another valuable result. People who participate workshops, see educational videos, or take elective courses, will be more aware of the usage of the AED and can share their experience and knowledge to those around them.
