Collaboration with the University of Sarajevo has significant potential, particularly in the field of multicultural nursing

During their visit from May 21st to 25th, representatives from the Institute of Nursing, Midwifery and Emergency Care of the FHSS USB, strengthened collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Sarajevo. Doc. PhDr. Marie Trešlová, Ph.D., Mgr. Hana Hajduchová, Ph.D., and Mgr. František Dolák, Ph.D., met with Prof. Dr. Jasmina Mahmutović, Vice-Dean for International Relations, and Prof. Dr. Vedran Đido, Head of the Department of Nursing. They agreed on a shared vision for further cooperation, with a specific focus on supporting the development of simulation-based education by the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences USB. Additionally, the participants discussed opportunities for professional practice for nursing students.

Dr. Dolák, Vice-Dean for International Relations and Head of the Simulation Centre for Healthcare Professions at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences USB, summarized: "Our colleagues from Sarajevo have expressed interest in collaborating on research projects that they cannot undertake by themselves. We also discussed the possibility of publishing in their faculty journal, the Journal of Health Sciences. Collaboration in the field of multicultural nursing appears highly valuable for inter-faculty cooperation, specifically within the nursing discipline, as the visiting party possesses extensive practical experience in this area."

Lectures for students in the fourth and sixth semesters of the bachelor’s degree programme in nursing were part of the visit. Faculty members from the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences USB presented the following topics: History and development of nursing in the Czech Republic, Communication in nursing, Empathy in nursing education and practice, Simulation training in nursing, Nursing education in the Czech Republic in the context of EU requirements, Nursing education – theoretical and practical teaching, Community care, and Scientific publication activity in the field of nursing. Vice-Dean Dolák added: "The students showed interest in mobility opportunities in the Czech Republic and positively responded to the presented topics and information."
