Three days before the World First-Aid Day, on Wednesday 8 September, under the auspices of the Children's University, a first-aid training was organised by students of the FHSS USB. They went to Lipno lake for a cycling camp organised by Bishop's Grammar School in České Budějovice. This event is a tradition which originated with the cooperation between Bishop's Grammar School and its former student, now a graduate of our faculty, Bc. Radim Baxa.
According to the coordinator of the ChUUSB FHSS USB, Dr. Věra Stasková, "The event was held in a campsite near Nová Pec on the banks of Lipno lake with 110 grammar school students. The high number of participants will help to spread the discussed issues. It also included an organizational challenge, which was accomplished by all participants."
A total of 21 students from the fields of Paramedicine and General Nursing prepared ten stands divided into five thematic units for the grammar school students. The stands dealt with resuscitation and internal acute conditions. Bishop's Grammar School perceives this training to be enriching and helpful. The lecturers are our students and close to the grammar school students in age. This means they can pass on information and skills more easily than usual teachers. However, it was a very demanding day in terms of organisation, as Dr. Stašková emphasized: "I would like to express a big thank you to all the students for their preparation and commitment throughout the event. I would especially like to thank the student Karel Sluneček, who organized all the students and prepared the stands under the supervision of Radim Baxa."
