Institute of Radiology, Toxicology and Civil Protection strengthens ties with a partner university in Riga, Latvia

From 14 to 17 April, the Institute of Radiology, Toxicology and Civil Protection at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia hosted Romānse Putānse from Riga Stradiņš University, where she works at the Faculty of Social Sciences. She visited the faculty as part of the Erasmus+ teaching mobility programme. The visiting academic shared her professional expertise and participated in teaching activities. During her stay, she delivered lectures to students in the course Fundamentals of Security Policy, focusing on aspects of economic security, particularly virtual currencies.

Her visit followed a previous stay in Riga by the Deputy Head of the Institute, PhDr. Štěpán Strnad, PhD. Dr Strnad (pictured left) played a key role in establishing cooperation with this partner university, and these joint activities represent another step in the development of long-term academic relations. “The cooperation is now expanding further, particularly in the development of course offerings for Erasmus student mobility at both universities,” he noted.

The next step is a planned Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), a new type of short-term international mobility within Erasmus+ that combines physical student mobility abroad (lasting 5–30 days) with a virtual component, enabling broader student participation and more efficient sharing of teaching capacities between institutions. “This initiative contributes to the internationalisation of study programmes and opens up new opportunities for both students and academic staff at the partner universities,” added Dr Strnad.
