The Faculty has established intensive international cooperation with Aldent University in Albania
Thanks to the Erasmus+ KA171 Programme, the Institute of Radiology, Toxicology and Civil Protection of the FHSS USB, has established very intensive cooperation with Aldent University in Tirana, Albania. A significant milestone was the December visit of two academic staff members from this partner university.
Dr. Gerta Halilaj, Ph.D., works at Aldent University as a respected radiologist and academic lecturer. She has more than eight years of teaching experience at the university level and over six years of clinical experience gained at the “Shefqet Ndroqi” University Hospital in Tirana. For the past five years, she has held the position of coordinator of the Imaging and Radiotherapy study programme at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Aldent University. Dr. Rovena Mera, Ph.D., has long focused on teaching academic writing, research methodology, and the Albanian language. Her aim is the systematic support of academic excellence and the development of scientific thinking. Through carefully designed educational activities and dynamic teaching materials, she inspires students to think critically and creatively.
The Erasmus+ KA171 Programme is an important instrument of international credit mobility that supports exchanges of students and higher-education staff between European and non-European partner countries. It enables study stays, practical traineeships, teaching assignments, and professional training abroad. “In this way, it contributes not only to the development of participants’ professional, language, and intercultural competences, but also to strengthening international cooperation between higher-education institutions,” explained the Vice-Dean for Studies and Social Affairs, PhDr. Zuzana Freitinger-Skalická, Ph.D.
This cooperation also includes student exchange traineeships. In September and October of last year, four third-year students of the Radiology Assistance study programme took part in a two-month professional traineeship at a hospital in Albania. Two additional second-year students are preparing for a similar two-month traineeship in the summer semester. “At the same time, our faculty will welcome two students from Albania in the summer semester, which will further deepen international cooperation and the exchange of experience,” the Vice-Dean added.
