About EMMIR

The European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations (EMMIR) is one of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programs and the first African-European-Asian EMJM in migration studies.  

EMMIR is a unique degree focusing on migration from an intercultural perspective. It provides students with strong theoretical foundations and practical research skills in migration studies, including fieldwork mainly in African, Asian and European contexts. This multidisciplinary two-year programme (120 ECTS) addresses key contemporary issues in this growing field. 

Students can complete a practical placement in the Czech Republic during the second semester and attend the module Representation, Ethnicity and National Status in South Bohemia. They also have the opportunity to write their master’s thesis under the supervision of academics from the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. 

Established in 2011, EMMIR is jointly run by nine partner universities across Africa, Europe, and Asia:
