Valná hromada Asociace vzdělavatelů v sociální práci (ASVSP) se konala ve čtvrtek 10. listopadu 2022 na Zdravotně sociální fakultě Jihočeské univerzity. ZSF JU patří k 24 řádným členům asociace (na Jihočeské univerzitě je jejím členem také Teologická fakulta). ASVSP sdružuje vyšší odborné a vysoké školy v ČR, jež poskytují vzdělání v oblasti sociální práce. Cílem vzdělávání organizovaného ASVSP je zvyšování kvality vzdělávání, propojování znalostí z různých oblastí a zvyšování odbornosti, rozhledu a nadhledu pedagogů, včetně jejich osobního rozvoje. Valná hromada zasedá dvakrát ročně, pokaždé na jiné z členských škol.

K pěkným vzpomínkám na porod v českobudějovické nemocnici, který se odehrál v posledním dni letošního února, významně přispěla studentka Magdaléna Anna Robauschová z druhého ročníku studijního programu Porodní asistence ZSF JU. Pochvalu za její práci a přístup poslala děkance naší fakulty dr. Ivaně Chloubové čerstvá maminka paní Plachá. „Studentka byla neskutečně milá, ochotná, vstřícná, hodná, vše vysvětlila, jak porod probíhá a jak se musí miminko připravit do porodních cest i vše, co k tomu patří a co bude následovat. Když se jí člověk na cokoliv zeptal, vše srozumitelně popsala a vysvětlila. Je to člověk na správném miste a dělá práci s láskou a velkým nadšením,“popsala s velkým poděkováním za sebe i svého přítele.

Děkanka ZSF JU dr. Ivana Chloubová obdržela poděkování od Spolku pro pomoc dětem s poruchou krvetvorby HAIMA České Budějovice, které je určeno pro vyučující a studentky Pediatrického ošetřovatelství a také pro maďarského studenta, jenž je právě na naší fakultě na stáži. Pomohli při organizování Dne dětské onkologie, který se konal 15. února v českobudějovické nemocnici.

Zástupkyně spolku Milena Ludvíková poděkovala pedagožce Mgr. Mileně Mágrové z Ústavu ošetřovatelství, porodní asistence a neodkladné péče ZSF JU, studentkám 2. ročníku Pediatrického ošetřovatelství Ladě Melicharové, Veronice Péčové a Markétě Hartlové i studentovi z Maďarska Filipovi Csikos. Studenti rozdávali ve vstupní hale příchozím letáčky a zlaté stužky. Téma zaujalo mnoho lidí, kteří na místě přispěli do kasičky spolku HAIMA celkovou částku 9550 Kč a další poslali přes QR kód na účet spolku téměř 5000 Kč.

Dny dětské onkologie mají za cíl šířit povědomí o této problematice, představit pokroky v léčbě a podpořit pacienty i jejich bližní, ocenit jejich statečnost a vytrvalost. Tuto osvětu zajistily ve vestibulu členky spolku HAIMA společně s lékařkami MUDr. Alenou Smrčkovou a MUDr. Ivanou Hojdovou ze Stanice dětské hematoonkologie při Dětském oddělení českobudějovické nemocnice a také s vyučující ZSF JU Mgr. Milenou Mágrovou. „Děkujeme všem zúčastněným za pomoc a přínos našemu spolku. Vybrané finanční prostředky jsou použity podle požadavků ošetřujících lékařů a staniční sestry. Samozřejmostí je, že jsou vždy využity ve prospěch malých onkologicky nemocných pacientů a jejich rodin,“ uvedla Milena Ludvíková. Upřesnila, že peníze přispějí na nákup drobnějších pomůcek, které jsou zapotřebí k domácímu ošetřování dítěte, jako jsou čističky vzduchu a nezbytné pomůcky, dále na příspěvek na službu psycholožky a roční finanční podporu rodin v obtížné finanční situaci, protože jeden z rodičů nemůže být dlouhodobě zaměstnán a tráví čas s nemocným dítětem v nemocnici.

HAIMA České Budějovice je spolek působící zejména v Jihočeském kraji a přilehlých oblastech. Sdružuje občany, kteří chtějí pomoci dětem s onemocněním krvetvorby nebo s hematoonkologickým onemocněním, např. s leukémií. Další informace jsou ZDE:

Spolupráce týmu zapojeného do mezinárodního projektu BENEFITS byla natolik perfektní, že by v ní členové chtěli pokračovat i po ukončení projektu. S tímto odhodláním se kolegové loučili na posledním pracovní setkání, které se uskutečnilo ve dnech 19. a 20. května v Barceloně. Setkali se při něm odborníci ze sedmi univerzit šesti států, a to z Turecka, Maďarska, Belgie, Španělska, Slovinska a České republiky. Spolupracovali v rámci projektu „Better & Effective Nursing Education For Improving Transcultural nursing Skills“ (BENEFITS), který byl financován z programu ERASMUS+ KA203 Strategic Partnerships for higher education.

„Během dvoudenního setkání jsme hodnotili průběh řešení projektu, dosažené výsledky a výstupy. Aktivní tříletá práce má bohaté výsledky, a to nejen pedagogické, ale i výzkumné. Zástupci jednotlivých států prezentovali, co jim účast v projektu a spolupráce se zahraničními kolegy přinesla, jak výsledky projektu ovlivnily výuku transkulturního ošetřovatelství na jejich fakultě a jak budou s výsledky dále pracovat. V rámci projektu jsme vytvořili dotazník na hodnocení kulturních kompetencí studentů ošetřovatelství, realizovali jsme společný kurz na transkulturní ošetřovatelství, který jsme pilotně ověřovali při týdenním intenzivním kurzu na univerzitě v tureckém Giresunu. Připravili jsme i knižní publikaci o transkulturním ošetřovatelství a výsledky dotazníkového šetření a analýzy kurikul jsme publikovali v impaktovaných časopisech. Tyto vynikající výsledky jsou důkazem kvalitní práce celého projektového týmu,“ zhodnotila proděkanka pro vědu a výzkum a ředitelka Ústavu ošetřovatelství, porodní asistence a neodkladné péče ZSF JU prof. PhDr. Valérie Tóthová, Ph.D.

Hlavní koordinátorkou projektu na naší fakultě byla prof. Tóthová, dále byla do projektu zapojena Mgr. Věra Hellerová, Ph.D., a do některých aktivit také doc. PhDr. Marie Trešlová, Ph.D. Závěrečného pracovního setkání se zúčastnily děkanka ZSF JU Mgr. Ivana Chloubová, Ph.D., docentka Trešlová a profesorka Tóthová. Místem setkání byla Autonomous University of Barcelona, Faculty of Medicine. „Jsem velice ráda, že naše fakulta byla členem konsorcia a mohly jsme pracovat s vynikajícími zahraničními odborníky transkulturního ošetřovatelství. Zkušenosti, které jsme získaly, využijeme jak ve výuce, tak i v naší vědecké práci. Jsem ráda i za to, že se paní děkanka během závěrečného setkání mohla seznámit s postupem řešení projektu a všemi výstupy a mohla vidět dobrou pracovní atmosféru a vynikající spolupráci mezi členy týmu, v níž bychom chtěli pokračovat i po ukončení projektu. Teď nás čeká příprava závěrečné zprávy, kterou musíme předložit do konce srpna,“ dodala prof. Tóthová.

The Institute of Nursing, Midwifery and Emergency Care of the FHSS USB together with the Estonian Tartu Health Care College (THCC) gained an international project on the topic ‘Automated external defibrillators save lives’. The project was submitted as part of the Erasmus + programme, aimed at supporting education, vocational training, youth, and sports in Europe.

Automated external defibrillators (AED) are devices intended for lay resuscitation, they deliver an electric shock to the affected heart (so-called defibrillation). The AED is capable of automatically distinguishing between shockable and non-shockable rhythms. A layperson is guided by loud spoken instructions.

The project manager for the FHSS USB is Mgr. František Dolák, Ph.D. He stated that the main goal is to increase the knowledge and practical skills (use of AED and first aid) of adults who live in rural areas of Estonia and the Czech Republic. Dr. Dolák explained: "The Záchranka mobile application is used in the Czech Republic and this gateway offers a comprehensive database of all publicly available defibrillators in the Czech Republic. Therefore, we can offer experience with these devices and education to the general public."

The project will also include study trips between the participating countries to exchange experiences and discover the conditions that characterize the use of the above-mentioned devices. The target groups of the study tours are teachers and employees of the partner organization. There is a strong need to exchange knowledge on first aid and the use of AEDs. THCC would like to focus more on the use of AEDs in rural areas and organize various campaigns to introduce the use of AEDs to citizens.

Devatenáct dětí ukončilo v pátek 15. července Letní příměstský tábor Dětské univerzity Zdravotně sociální fakulty JU, který pro ně celý týden připravovali vyučující a studenti této školy. Hlavní téma tábora "Zdravotníci v akci" naplnily lekce první pomoci, fyzioterapie, péče o novorozence, děti se také učily komunikovat s nevidomým kamarádem, dívat se na svět pod mikroskopem a dokonce si vyzkoušely i prvky sebeobrany. Ve čtvrtek absolvovaly celodenní výlet do Hluboké nad Vltavou, kam došly pěšky a zpátky jely lodí. Základnu měl příměstský tábor v budově ZSF JU v ulici U Výstaviště a obědy poskytla menza Jihočeské univerzity.

Letní příměstský tábor, stejně jako další lekce Dětské univerzity během školního roku, vychází ze zaměření této fakulty na pomáhající profese ve zdravotnictví, sociální práci a bezpečnostních oborech. Fakulta má s Dětskou univerzitou už mnohaleté zkušenosti a pokaždé se tato nabídka setkává se skvělým ohlasem a kapacita lekcí je rychle zaplněná. Vždy totiž připraví pestrý program, aby si děti zábavnou a hravou formou osvojily znalosti a dovednosti užitečné i pro běžný život. To oceňují i rodiče, kteří své potomky tentokrát přiváželi nejen z Českých Budějovic a okolí, např. z Boršova, Hluboké nad Vltavou či Hosína, ale dokonce i ze vzdálené Kardašovy Řečice.

Jedním ze stěžejních témat, která děti velmi baví a rodiče si těchto znalostí vždy velmi cení, jsou základy poskytování první pomoci. Příměstský tábor tentokrát touto lekcí začal: děti v pěti skupinkách v pondělí ošetřovaly „pacienty“ s podezřením na zlomeninu páteře, s otevřenou zlomeninou nohy, tepenným krvácením na předloktí, s cévní mozkovou příhodou a epileptickým záchvatem. Tedy v situacích, s nimiž se mohou setkat na ulici, doma či jinde v běžné praxi – a každý, kdo umí správně a rychle zareagovat, může někomu zachránit život. Neméně důležitá je schopnost účinně pomoci při dalších potížích, proto se děti učily například i to, jak vynést kamaráda do schodů. Odpoledne se ještě více vžily do role záchranářů a musely si poradit i v situacích, které díky působivému maskování vyžadovaly větší dávku odvahy a profesionality.

Podnětným zážitkem byla ve středu návštěva dvou nevidomých žen v kampusu Jihočeské univerzity. Z Plzně přijela Martina Izingová z Plzně zastupující projekt Návštěvami POTMĚ, která oslepla až v dospělosti po zranění. Děti velmi zaujal její příběh a hlavně vodicí pes: fenka zlatého retrívra Bianka. O tom, jak se chovat k nevidomým, ale také jak člověk s postižením zraku vnímá svět a jaké má pomůcky pro usnadnění běžného života, si s dětmi povídala také Šarlota Hambergerová z Českých Budějovic, ředitelka Spolu s vámi, z. ú., která je úplně nevidomá už od narození. Děti se jich neostýchaly zeptat na cokoli i ze soukromého života, velmi je zaujaly různé druhy pomůcek a samozřejmě hlavně pes – ihned začaly vyprávět o svých domácích mazlíčcích a všechny využily příležitosti Bianku si pohladit. „Dětské skupiny a tábory navštěvujeme často a máme zkušenost, že děti si tuto zkušenost nesou v sobě a pak se nebojí nevidomého člověka oslovit a nabídnout mu pomoc. U vás jsme potkaly velmi šikovné děti, které už o tématu hodně věděly – je znát, že je váš tábor zdravotně zaměřený, takže děti o tom mají větší povědomí a také jsou velmi empatické. Jsme za to vděčné, protože čím víc tuto osvětu můžeme šířit, tím lépe,“shrnula Šarlota Hambergerová z Českých Budějovic.

Rozloučení v pátek odpoledne se odehrálo v lesoparku Stromovka, kde děti nejdřív při soutěžích vyběhaly část své neutuchající energie a pak se usadily ve stínu stromu. Přišla chvíle pro předání diplomů, dárků a povídání, co se jim líbilo nejvíc, co se naučily a co by případně chtěly dál rozvíjet například prostřednictvím podzimního cyklu Dětské univerzity na naší fakultě. Postupně si pro ně přicházeli rodiče a prarodiče, kteří nešetřili chválou. Veronika Slaninová z Kardašovy Řečice na Jindřichohradecku ani jednou nezalitovala, že své dva syny musela na naši školu denně vozit. Nabídku našla na fakultním Facebooku a hned kluky přihlásila. "Starší syn Jan chce být lékařem stejně jako jeho táta, takže téma vašeho příměstského tábora bylo pro nás jasnou volbou. Bavilo to i mladšího Matěje, úplně nadšeni byli hned programem prvního dne, kdy se učili první pomoc. Ale líbilo se jim toho mnohem víc, například setkání s nevidomými a speciálně vycvičeným psem. Také je moc zaujaly modely, které ve výuce vašich studentů používáte," shrnula paní Slaninová.

International Nurses' Day is celebrated annually and worldwide on May 12, as it marks the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. Florence Nightingale was a pioneer in nursing; her far-sighted ideas and reforms played a significant role in the professionalization of health care. Some of these ideas remain the basis for current nursing today. The greatest success for which we can be grateful to this lady was the transformation of nursing into a respected profession. In 1860, she founded the first vocational school for nurses - The Nightingale Home and Training School for Nurses, St. Thomas’s Hospital.

In addition, she contributed to improving the standard of health care, publishing more than 200 books, reports and leaflets on the organization of hospitals, which are still read by the general public and highly respected today. Her most important work is called "Notes on Nursing: What It Is and What It Is Not".

On this day, we also commemorate the difficult workload of nurses, especially during the pandemic. Due to the current situation, both healthcare professionals and the general public are aware of the complexity of the nursing profession, and the profession’s prestige is rising again — exactly as Florence Nightingale would like it to. After all, in her time she was an icon of nursing; brave, determined and not afraid to fight for what was right. Her honourable character manifested itself in the war period, when she herself stood at the front line. She nursed the wounded and in her free time thought about how to improve nursing care. Surely Florence would be proud to see that we are following in her footsteps, and in other difficult times - the fight against coronavirus – nurses can pull together and are not afraid to live up to their mission.

We wish all nurses, midwives, and students of these fields a lot of strength, determination and fulfilment from the professional care that you provide so well.

On Tuesday, a lecture was held in the packed lecture hall A, presented by Doc. Ing. Jan Těšitel, CSc., who was instrumental in initiating cooperation between our faculty and Kathmandu University. An agricultural engineer by profession, he has worked in Nepal intermittently for a total of eight years since 2011, focusing on four water projects. Thanks to his and his colleagues' contacts there, he also gave impetus to the development of cooperation between the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and Kathmandu University. Since 2015, our faculty has sent many students there; first those specializing in nursing and later students of physiotherapy. The existing cooperation agreement with our faculty was extended last November in Kathmandu, so the trips can continue.

The Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia, Mgr. Ivana Chloubová, Ph.D., who welcomed Doc. Těšitel at the beginning of the lecture, confirmed that this was an extremely interesting opportunity to gain professional experience, get to know another culture, and compare value systems. She has fresh experience of the country, having visited it in mid-November last year with representatives of the Institute of Nursing, Midwifery, and Emergency Care of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia, Mgr. František Dolák, Ph.D., and Doc. PhDr. Marie Trešlová, Ph.D. In Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, the dean signed a memorandum of cooperation with the dean of the School of Medical Sciences.

"I firmly believe that Doc. Těšitel's presentation will inspire you to go on future trips to Nepal. If someone asks me what Nepal is like, I say - different. It is different from what we are used to in our civilization. It is hard to describe Nepal, you just have to experience it. I was very pleasantly surprised by the locals' friendliness and their deep inner calm," the dean told an audience predominantly composed of students.

Doc. Těšitel emphasized that he had never been to this country as a tourist but always as a scientist and member of a team of hydrogeologists. This allowed him to learn more about the mentality of the locals and their daily lives. At first, they focused on wells, then on flood protection strategies, and the fourth project was devoted to wastewater treatment using root cleaning systems. He then summarized: "I also dealt with how likely our European technologies were to be applied there. It depends on whether this technology is close to their cultural climate - if not, it will end, even if it is necessary. For example, we encountered non-existent legislation or other hygiene standards."

He based his presentation on photographs that vividly depicted the everyday life, architecture, landscape, and environment of the city and slums. Some of these had been recently exhibited in the main building of our faculty, and during the lecture, participants in the hall were able to view them. Doc. Těšitel also had several practical tips for students planning to travel to Nepal, and tried to briefly express what fascinated him most about the country and its people: "It’s their resilience, how they get out of the difficulties that come their way, solidarity, friendliness, willingness... We in Europe are captives of linear time and are always planning, while time flows more slowly there, but eventually, everything important gets done. They are spiritually elevated and have no ambition to assert themselves, so we did not encounter any aggression. Even the frequent honking of drivers is just an indication that I am driving, not an order to 'get out of the way..."

Our students who want to travel to Dhulikhel Hospital in Kathmandu must first pass an interview at our faculty. When they succeed, they usually go there for a two-month professional internship, which they complete at the hospital. Like most Europeans, many of them initially experience culture shock in Nepal. However, if they change their perspective and remain receptive, they will return more enriched. Although the medical equipment in Nepal is not always as high-quality as ours, caring for patients and the way of life in this country teaches students the importance of these qualities: humanity, empathy, and patience. Many Europeans fundamentally rearrange their hierarchy of values ​​there.

Community care, which is highly developed in Asian countries, goes hand in hand with professional medical care. The work of healthcare personnel differs in many respects, and the role of family and loved ones in patient care is crucial. This was confirmed by Dean Dr. Chloubová, who, during her recent visit to Dhulikhel Hospital, met many relatives who were prepared to take care of their loved ones in the hospital, even if this meant sleeping on a mat under their bed at night.

On 30 November and 1 December 2021, Professor Constantina Skanavis, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Public Health of the University of West Attica in Greece, visited the Department of Radiology, Toxicology and Civil Protection of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the USB – as part of the Erasmus + programme. She was received by the Vice-Dean for International Relations of the JU Faculty of Social Sciences, prof. Dr.rer.nat. Friedo Zölzer, DSc. The subject of the meeting was to establish cooperation through teacher and student mobility within the Erasmus+ programme. Prof. Zölzer said "Possible cooperation is also offered in the field of Environmental Health, which is the exact area where the interests of our two institutions overlap."

According to the World Health Organization, Environmental Health includes those aspects of human health and disease that are determined by factors present in the environment. The Director of the Institute of Radiology, Toxicology and Civil Protection, Mgr. Zuzana Freitinger Skalická, Ph.D., explained "Ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and toxic substances are important factors that not only play a role in emergencies, but also in long-term exposures. These aspects are the target of our Institute's scientific research activities."

On Wednesday, Professor Constantina Skanavis met with students of the master’s degree in Civil Emergency Preparedness and students of the Bachelor's degree in Civil protection with a focus on chemical, biological, radiology and nuclear noxae and explosives. During a presentation entitled, "An academic prescription for Ecotherapy", she discussed the importance of protecting the environment and preserving it for future generations. In her presentation, she touched upon aspects causing environmental degradation, and emphasized the role of human beings and their negative impact. At the end of the lecture, she introduced the Skyros Project, which is a new way to provide practical environmental and health education.

The University of West Attica is a relatively young university that was formed in 2019 by the merger of several Greek universities. Prof. Skanavis was approached by the representatives of the newly formed university to establish and lead the Faculty of Public Health. Since then, she has held the position of the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health. The collaboration between the FHSS USB and TEI Athens, one of the universities that gave rise to the University of West Attica, dates back to 2016. Currently, two Greek students, Aristotelis Moutafis and Chris Chrysovalantis Topalidis, are studying at the FHSS USB under the Erasmus+ programme. Their six-month study stay focuses on public health, radiology, toxicology and epidemiology. Joint discussions on future collaboration have led to an interest in expanding opportunities for student and faculty exchange in the fields of civil protection and radiology.

Saying goodbye to this year´s participants of the Children´s University at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences USB was emotional. A special meeting was organised with children from the first year, their parents, and lectors, to plan the upcoming school year. The afternoon also meant saying farewell to the second-year children. The organisers prepared a graduation ceremony for the young students, much like the ceremony for their older colleagues in Metropol cultural house. The event took place in lecture theatre F, where the Choir of the FHSS USB sang for all participants, and teachers dressed in academic gowns presented diplomas and small presents to the children.

The Vice-Dean for academic issues, Mgr. Onřej Doskočil, Th.D., delivered a speech about the infinite process of human learning, and the tiny pieces of knowledge we collect throughout our lives to create a splendid colourful mosaic that follows up on the knowledge of previous generations. He said: “This truth is built up from tiny fragments of human knowledge, it is unable to be assembled by oneself. We are not solo players, we live in human society, side by side, we rely on each other. Sometimes we even carry another person, we lean against them: rescuers carry wounded people, healthcare professionals care for the ill and those in advanced age. This is not applicable only to injuries, illness, or old age. Human learning is a never-ending story.” He pointed out that during CUUSB lessons children realised ­– perhaps more than ever – how much people depend on each other, and how obvious this becomes during illness, old age, or emergency. These are the situations the helping professions focus on, and these are the professions whose graduates our faculty prepares and educates.

The Children´s University acquaints children with the content of the study programmes our faculty offers in a playful way. Perhaps their acquaintance with our school will one day bring them to the helping professions, and they will become doctors, nurses, paramedics, or social workers. Vice-Dean Doskočil expressed this hope: “Perhaps the study has inspired you in such a way that some of you will come back to the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences in the future.”

The ceremony was certainly more pleasant than the last two years which were affected covid-19 measures. This time participants didn´t need to wear face masks, they could shake hands or hug. At the end of the event, Věra Dušková spoke for all the little graduates.  “We have become a nice team,” she said, as she gave thanks to all of the pedagogues, parents, and students of the FHSS USB who had helped with the classes.  

According to the citation database Journal Citation Report™ (JCR), our journal KONTAKT has an impact factor of 0.3 for 2022. “This is a great success for our faculty, as the impact factor proves that the articles we publish in the journal after a rigorous peer-review process are cited in other professional journals, which shows their influence and importance in the given scientific field. Obtaining the impact factor is generally rated as a very good indicator of the quality and scientific research published in it. The impact factor can also attract more quality research papers and contribute to the reputation and fame of the faculty,“ explained the Vice-Dean for Science and Research, Prof. Valérie Tóthová, PhD.

KONTAKT – Journal of nursing and social sciences related to health and illness was founded in 1999 and is indexed in the databases Web of Science (ESCI), Scopus, EBSCO, DOAJ, CrossRef, ProQuest.

It is the official journal of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice in the Czech Republic, published quarterly in English language. Published by Elsevier since 2014 until 2018. Kontakt accepts for publication original research, review articles, letters to editor and interesting case reports, on all aspects of nursing, health and social problems related to health and illness. The journal is registered in Bibliographia medica Cechoslovaca (BMC) and is a member of COPE (Commitee on Publication Ethics). KONTAKT is an open access journal.

Editorial office accepts articles in English language, in Czech and Slovak language are acceptable as well. After reviews, Czech and Slovak corrected versions are sent to authors for translation. All articles are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. The review process is reciprocally anonymous. Without English version, the article can not be published.

Articles are published in two sections:

1. The nursing sectionfocuses on the support of nursing via the dissemination of the latest, evidence-based peer reviewed findings. The section serves as a forum for the exchange of knowledge relating to the education of nurses, the exchange of knowledge and skills in clinical nursing, the development of nursing concepts and innovation in health policy. 2. The social sciences in health sectionaccepts contributions relating to any aspect of health from a broad perspective of the social sciences, including the medical impact on society. It also accepts contributions dealing with ethical issues in health care, risk management and the impact of political and economic conditions in the field of health. The aim of the articles is to develop understanding and to provide practical application of quantitative and qualitative research methods concerning the management, application or use of the research in health and social care.

People watched the screening of the feature-length documentary ‘The Intensive Life Unit’ in the largest lecture hall of the FHSS USB with great interest. The event was transmitted to the next hall, which was mainly filled with students. The screening was followed by a debate with experts who talked about palliative medicine from different perspectives. The combination of the film and a discussion with people who know a lot about the topic from their own experience was unique. It broadened the horizons of not only the students present, but also elsewhere, because the debate was accessible online on ZOOM.

The feature-length documentary film, directed by Adéla Komrzý, depicts the work of the pioneers of Czech hospital palliative care, Mudr. Ondřej Kopecký, and Mudr. Kateřina Rusínová, Ph.D., at the VFN in Prague. The Clinic of Palliative Medicine was established as a pilot project to serve as a model for other hospitals. For example, a palliative and support team already exists at České Budějovice Hospital. However, until recently little has been known about this topic in the Czech Republic, and the young director took it up after personally experiencing the death of a loved one. Over the course of three years, she documented a team of professionals who help patients find solutions and make decisions about an appropriate starting point for them in an age of endless possibilities for artificially prolonging life. She shot over 150 hours of footage, so selecting footage for the final 75-minute documentary was very difficult. The fact that she succeeded is evidenced, among other things, by the award she received at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and the audience's interest in a film about such a serious subject.

A full-day course packed with information and plenty of opportunities to try out the theory in practice was organised on 1 December by FHSS USB for midwives, doctors and physiotherapists. It focused on the issue of natural and non-progressive childbirth, and combined knowledge from gynaecology, obstetrics and physiotherapy. It brought the different disciplines together with the aim of having professionals work together to make women's births as easy as possible. The theoretical and practical part was intertwined with the rich clinical experience of obstetricians and physiotherapists. The participation of a pregnant woman as a figurehead was also beneficial.

The initiator of the course, entitled “Prevention of non-progressive childbirth from the persepctive of an obstetrician and a physiotherapist,” was MUDr. et Mgr. Marcela Míková Ph.D., the professional guarantor of the course. Also invited were doc. MUDr. Ondřej Šimetka, Ph.D., MBA – Head of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava, Head of the Perinatology Centre of the University Hospital Ostrava, and Mgr. Marika Bajerová – a physiotherapist with fifteen years of experience working at the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Clinic of the University Hospital Ostrava and at the Institute of Rehabilitation of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava. “Our main goal is to connect physiotherapy and obstetrics, and to show how we can prevent non-progressive childbirth. The course also includes practical exercises on what we can do to support certain stages of labour," said Mgr. Marika Bajerová. She added that the aim is to manage the birth with a minimum of aids – and to rely on one's own hands and body if possible. There was great interest in the course at the FHSS USB. Its capacity of 30 seats was filled very quickly: in the audience were doctors and physicians from hospitals, midwives, physiotherapists, as well as teachers from České Budějovice and further afield. Physiotherapist Mgr. Jana Jarošová found the course greatly enriching. She said: "The most important thing is this interdisciplinary connection - we discussed how a physiotherapist can contribute to making childbirth as easy as possible, and what an obstetrician can expect from a physiotherapist." The course participants were also given visual study material.

Assoc. PhDr. Adéla Mojžíšová, Ph.D., and Mgr. Bohdana Břízová, Ph.D., from the Institute of Social and Special Pedagogical Sciences of the FHSS USB have spent a week at the University of Sarajevo, where they implemented a credit mobility project for students and teachers with the Faculty of Political Sciences. This collaboration began in 2019, but due to restrictions related to the covid-19 pandemic, it was not possible to travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier. Doc. Mojžíšová and Dr. Břízová met with the dean and members of the faculty administration, the head of the Department of Social Work and other colleagues in Sarajevo. They discussed important topics and attended social work classes in all years of study. During the week they spent in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they visited Sarajevo City Hall, where they were received by the Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo, Haris Bašić. They taught students and gave a presentation about the University of South Bohemia, our faculty, and the region of Southern Bohemia. Next week, from 16 to 20 May, two colleagues from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo will come to the FHSS USB. The aim of these meetings is to launch mobility programs for students from Sarajevo who want to come to our faculty this autumn. They will have an opportunity to study, or participate in internships at organizations in České Budějovice where the students of the Institute of Social and Special Pedagogical Sciences complete their professional practice.

At the University of Sarajevo, education in social work has a long tradition and graduates are in great demand. They offer social work programs at both bachelor's and postgraduate level, in full-time and part-time courses. The catalyst for this cooperation were meetings of the European Association of Schools of Social Work, of which both Adéla Mojžíšová from our faculty and the Vice Dean for International Relations of the Faculty of Political Science are members. Since Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a member of the European Union, it was necessary to find another way to cooperate, i.e., to use the credit mobility project.

Students of our faculty may also go to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both Adéla Mojžíšová and Bohdana Břízová are convinced that cooperation with this country can greatly enrich the development of the study programme. Assoc. Mojžíšová said: "It will bring us a new perspective on this issue, because, compared to our country, there is not such a comprehensive social work system nor such a widespread non-profit sector. However, given the complicated development of the country, where the consequences and traces of the war are still visible, social workers are very much needed." Dr. Břízová added: "It is a very interesting place for cooperation, especially as the country is historically close to us. People from the Czech Republic are welcome there and generally well received."

Educators from the Institute of Nursing, Midwifery and Emergency Care (INMEC) of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia, headed by the dean of the faculty Mgr. Ivana Chloubová, Ph.D., and the director of this institute, prof. PhDr. Valéria Tóthová, Ph.D., have visited the partner university Wolfson Academic Nursing School (WANS) in Tel Aviv. WANS was established by the Israeli Ministry of Health in 1974 at Wolfson Medical Center as an independent public school. In 1992, WANS was affiliated with Tel Aviv University and became part of it. The objectives of WANS are in line with the Ministry of Health's intention to reduce health inequalities. Unique bachelor's degree programmes have been opened in nursing that encourage a culturally diverse population; a large proportion of the students are immigrants. WANS is a dynamically developing institution that is expanding its network of international contacts.

Prof. Tóthová, vice dean for science and research and director of the INMEC FHSS USB explained: "WANS is an important partner in terms of deepening the concept of transcultural nursing in our teaching, because in Israel they have rich experience in nursing – and not only in terms of providing culturally respectful care". Since 2013, Professor Tóthová has been collaborating with Dr. Sara Nissim within the European Association of Transcultural Nursing. Along with Dr. Sara Nissim, who was director of WANS until 2020, they prepared a credit mobility project in 2019.

They have significant experience with the education of nurses from different cultural backgrounds. Israel has an immensely rich culture due to the diversity of its population; all arrivals have brought their cultural and religious customs with them. Much like the USA, Israel has become a kind of melting pot of customs and beliefs. Therefore, the study programs at WANS logically reflect the concept of culturally-differentiated care.

The group of INMEC teachers were warmly welcomed by members of the Wolfson Academic Nursing School. The aim of the meeting was to mutually familiarize attendees with the current educational system of nurses in the Czech Republic and Israel. The possibilities of strengthening joint scientific research cooperation were also discussed. In addition to professional lectures, the teachers of our faculty presented our conditions for obtaining professional qualifications within the general and paediatric nursing and midwifery programmes. They also presented individual study and educational programmes of lifelong learning. The programme included a visit to the simulation centre and the virtual reality centre, where INMEC teachers had the opportunity to experience prepared scenarios. The use of virtual reality represents a significant shift in nursing education, allowing students to acquire and master skills before entering clinical practice.

Another part of the programme was a gathering with the representatives of the Wolfson Medical Center (WMC). The FHSS USB representatives were received by the director of nursing, Orna Zvi, and the manager of human resources in nursing, Eti Kitri. The hospital representatives talked about the strategy and future visions for the hospital. Part of the programme was a discussion about innovations and research activities with Soshi Fridman. Other activities were presented by a representative of mentors from the internal department of WMC. He presented how mentoring of nursing students takes place and what, for example, are the most complicated and unpleasant situations of the entire mentoring process. At this meeting, the implementation of mentoring at the clinical workplaces of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice was also presented.

Dr. Sara Nissim also facilitated a meeting with the dean of the Faculty of Social and Community Science, Professor Eyal Gamliel, and the head of the Department of Nursing, Dr. Keren Grinberg from another Israeli higher education institution; the Rupin Academic Center in the city of Kfar Monash. Members of the management of both faculties presented the structure of their faculties, study programmes, and research activities. The dean of the FHSS USB, dr. Chloubová, said: "This new faculty is very interested in mutual cooperation in the field of nursing. There are significant possibilities for developing cooperation in both pedagogical and research activities."

Another part of the programme was a visit to the Intercultural Center in Jerusalem. Here, a discussion took place about the current situation in Jerusalem and its surroundings – in relation to the diversity of multicultural and religious society.

Vyhlášení výsledků soutěže Jihočeská sestřička, v níž v sobotu změřilo síly celkem 15 týmů VŠ, VOŠ a SŠ zdravotnického zaměření, přineslo velkou radost a uznání Zdravotně sociální fakultě JU. Tým č. 2 ve složení Tereza Svárovská, Dominik Král, Ilona Špirochová a Nicole Šubrová vyhrál kategorii 1 - VOŠ, VŠ a nakonec se stal absolutním vítězem celé soutěže. Fakulta do ní vyslala celkem tři týmy a ve své kategorii vybojovala ještě místo druhé (tým ve složení Kateřina Kasalová, Elen Herdová, Kateřina Janků a Eliška Kalvasová) a čtvrté (tým ve složení Marie Šafářová, Johanka Pumprová, Lenka Průšová a Matěj Škornička). Vítězům předal pohár ministr zdravotnictví ČR Adam Vojtěch a mezi prvními gratulanty v sále českobudějovického hotelu Clarion byla děkanka ZSF JU Ivana Chloubová a rektor JU Bohumil Jiroušek.

Děkanka fakulty Mgr. Ivana Chloubová, Ph.D., ocenila nejen vítěze, ale i členy dalších dvou týmů ze ZSF JU – ve všech totiž byli studentky a studenti ze třetího ročníku oboru Všeobecná sestra, kteří na vlastní kůži pocítili ve škole i na praxích dopady pandemie ve zdravotnictví. „Jsou to ti, kteří byli v době nouze nasazeni do nemocnic a zvládali se rychle přesouvat všude tam, kde bylo aktuálně nejvíc potřeba pomoci personálu. Dokázali fungovat v náročných podmínkách, jsou vstřícní a spolehliví. Takže byť se samozřejmě radujeme i z absolutního prvenství, pro nás vyhráli všichni naši studenti,“ uvedla děkanka. Poděkovala také ročníkové vedoucí Mgr. Haně Hajduchové, Ph.D., a všem kolegyním a kolegům z Ústavu ošetřovatelství, porodní asistence a neodkladné péče ZFS JU za to, že studenty odborně připravili, ale i pozitivně namotivovali a podpořili.

Hostem slavnostního večera byl i rektor Jihočeské univerzity prof. PhDr. Bohumil Jiroušek, Dr., který byl nadšen jak z výsledků soutěže, tak z celé akce a atmosféry předávání cen. „Je to úžasná soutěž a jsem velmi rád, že máme tak schopné studentky a studenty, kteří se v budoucnosti stanou zdravotníky. Dává mi to naději, že pokud se někdy ocitnu v jejich péči, všechno dobře dopadne,“ řekl.

Celkem českobudějovická nemocnice připravila patnáct disciplín s vtipnými názvy, které připomínaly slavné filmy a seriály – takže studenti mnohdy do poslední chvíle nevěděli, co je vlastně čeká. Dveře byly označené například jmény Sestra v akci, Sběratelé kostí, Mumie se vrací, Hra o jablko, Ordinace v růžové zahradě či Alles Gute. V posledně jmenované místnosti bylo třeba prokázat znalost angličtiny či němčiny, protože úkol byl cizojazyčný: ošetřit cizince – zjistit, co mu je, a zařídit vše podstatné, než dorazí dlouho očekávaný lékař. Aby byla situace co nejreálnější, měli účinkující na sobě tyrolské kroje, případně muslimský šátek a dlouhou košili. Soutěžní klání v nemocničním areálu bylo velmi dynamické a napínavé – začalo v devět hodin a končilo před čtvrtou odpolední. Poté se studenti, pedagogové, ředitelé i zaměstnanci všech jihočeských nemocnic a další hosté přesunuli do hotelu Clarion na vyhlášení výsledků, jež vzhledem k počtu a náročnosti disciplín nikdo nedokázal předem odhadnout.

Pohár absolutním vítězům předal ministr zdravotnictví Adam Vojtěch, který se této soutěže zúčastnil jako host už potřetí. Její myšlenku označil za jeden z nejlepších projektů, který u nás byl vytvořen k propagaci povolání všeobecné sestry a zdravotníků obecně a hlavně k motivaci mladých lidí zapojit se do fungování zdravotnictví. „Myslím, že jestli nám covid přinesl něco dobrého, je to toto – zvýšila se prestiž zdravotníků i zájem o studium na zdravotnických školách. Doufám, že i tato soutěž vás utvrdila v tom, že po vašem absolutoriu půjdete pracovat do českého zdravotnictví, které to moc potřebuje,“ řekl ministr studentům v úvodu.

Jihočeská sestřička se každý rok koná v jiné nemocnici – předloni v Táboře, loni se kvůli pandemii nemohla uskutečnit a za rok je v plánu Jindřichův Hradec. „Myšlenkou akce je představit studentkám a studentům, kteří si vybrali jako svoji budoucí profesi sesterskou práci, konkrétní jihočeskou nemocnici a v ní modelací skutečných situací v reálném prostředí prověřit jejich vědomosti i praktické odborné dovednosti," vysvětlil Michal Čarvaš, zakladatel projektu Jihočeská sestřička a člen představenstva Jihočeských nemocnic. „Všem soutěžícím gratulujeme a děkujeme za účast. Bylo úžasné sledovat, s jakou vervou se studenti pustili do soutěžních disciplín," uvedl generální ředitel Nemocnice České Budějovice Michal Šnorek. Vyhlášení výsledků mělo i bohatý doprovodný program, který obstaral například Dětský folklorní soubor Lišováček, Sportovní klub moderní gymnastiky Máj nebo kapela Dětský pokojíček. Večerem provázel Roman Anděl, jehož diskotéka akci zakončila.

O akci projevila velký zájem média: zprávy a reportáže o soutěži i úspěchu ZSF JU se objevily v Deníku, Jihočeské televizi, v Mf Dnes a na různých zpravodajských webech i webech institucí včetně Jihočeského kraje.

Štěpán Hebík z Českých Budějovic vystudoval fyzioterapii na Zdravotně sociální fakultě JU a své profesi je stále věrný. Zároveň se stal uznávaným muzikantem, dokonce už získal prestižní hudební cenu Anděl a nedávno vydal svoji druhou desku. Za ni ho teď Česká hudební akademie nominovala na cenu Anděl dokonce ve třech kategoriích.

Fyzioterapeutickou praxi si Štěpán Hebík, který v hudební branži používá pseudonym 7krát3, v Českých Budějovicích otevřel už během svého studia na ZSF JU. Pravidelně ordinuje a klientů má mnoho, někteří za ním dojíždějí i ze vzdálenějších míst včetně Moravy a Slovenska. Termíny má zaplněné pár měsíců dopředu a musí dobře plánovat, aby mohl zkombinovat všechno, co ho baví a dává mu smysl. Včetně rodiny – je totiž otcem dvou dětí. Třiatřicetiletý hudebník, zpěvák, producent a rapper pochází z rodiny se slavnou hudební tradicí. Jeho otec Jiří Hebík hraje na trubku a je frontmanem reggae a funky kapely HE Band, proslulými muzikanty byli rovněž jeho děda a praděda.

Přesto pociťoval Štěpán už v dětství touhu zaměřit se i na něco jiného než jenom na hudbu. „Odmalička jsem měl sklony zabývat se zdravotním stavem mých blízkých a pečovat o ně,“ vybavuje si. Toužil být lékařem, ale včas pochopil, že studium medicíny je tak náročné, že by ho nemohl skloubit s muzikou. Volba oboru Fyzioterapie byla pro něj tou pravou. „Splňovala to, co jsem hledal. V této profesi můžu navázat užší kontakt s pacientem. Díky tomu, že s ním trávím hodně času, můžu někdy odhalit příčinu jeho potíží dokonce lépe než lékař během krátké doby v ordinaci. Některé věci se projeví až po několika terapiích,“ vysvětluje. Za velice důležitou vlastnost, kterou fyzioterapeut nesmí postrádat, považuje trpělivost.

Fyzioterapii studoval na Zdravotně sociální fakultě v letech 2008 – 2011 a téma jeho bakalářské práce znělo Náprava pohybových programů v rámci léčby asthma bronchiale. V magisterském studiu pokračoval na Fakultě tělesné výchovy a sportu Univerzity Karlovy v Praze. V diplomové práci se zabýval otázkou, jak lze skrze pohybový systém ovlivnit koktavost: Zajímalo ho, jak mohou fyzioterapeutické metody pomáhat při práci s klienty v logopedických centrech. V oboru, kterou si zvolil, nestačí teorie – základem úspěchu je praxe přinášející potřebné zkušenosti. Zpětně oceňuje, že už během studia na fakultě se dostal do mnoha různorodých prostředí v nemocnicích, například na Jednotku intenzivní péče nebo Anesteziologicko-resuscitační oddělení. Učil se tam třeba pracovat s pacienty s tracheostomií, velmi ho také zaujala neurologie.

Zdravotně sociální fakulta mu v jeho snaze propojovat různé obory dala dobrý základ. S některými vyučujícími je v kontaktu dodnes, zejména s ředitelkou Ústavu fyzioterapie a vybraných medicínských oborů MUDr. et Mgr. Marcelou Míkovou, Ph.D. „Cítím k ní velkou úctu, a to nejen z hlediska profesního, ale i lidského. Mnohokrát jsem jí zavolal, když jsem potřeboval radu ohledně nějakého pacienta, a vždycky mi vyšla vstříc. Rád vzpomínám i na další pedagogy, třeba PhDr. Ludmilu Brůhovou, a naprosto zásadně mě ovlivnil docent František Véle, nestor oboru Fyzioterapie. Měl jsem možnost se s ním několikrát potkat a tak mě nadchnul, že hlavně díky němu jsem se přihlásil ještě do magisterského studia na Karlově univerzitě. Promluvil mi do duše a ovlivnil mě na celý život, protože rozpoznal můj zápal pro obor. Talent je super, ale důležitější je, pokud člověk zahoří pro svůj obor v srdci,“ vzpomíná Štěpán Hebík s vděčností.

Ředitelka Ústavu fyzioterapie a vybraných medicínských oborů Marcela Míková ho chválí: „Štěpán byl nezapomenutelný student, který neustále chodil pozdě s pozounem na zádech ze zkoušek, z natáčení alb a z mnoha jiných aktivit. Nicméně při zkoušení a testech byl stejně jako v muzicekreativní a schopný improvizace, takže všechno úspěšně a zodpovědně zvládl. Propedagoga je velkou odměnou, když se ze studenta stane kolega, se kterým může sdílet péči o pacienty, sdělovat novinky a nápady. Fyzioterapie je náročný obor, umění spojující v sobě physis a psyché, a Štěpán s nadhledem renesančního umělce toto propojit dokáže ve prospěch svých pacientů.“

Hudba je součástí jeho života, bez níž se neobejde. Na podzim 2022, tedy po dvou letech od vydání svého debutového alba, za něž obdržel prestižní hudební cenu Anděl v kategorii Interpret roku 2020, přišel Štěpán Hebík aka 7krát3 s druhou deskou. Jmenuje se jednoduše II. a vynesla mu dokonce tři nominace na Anděly, a to v kategoriích Album roku, Sólový interpret a Videoklip. O nominacích letos v únoru hlasovalo více než 440 odborníků z hudební branže, slavnostní předávání cen se koná 15. dubna v Praze.
